Fatigue Management Policy
Virtus is a nationwide fabrication and maintenance business with a goal of providing excellence in everything we do.
At Virtus Engineering PTY LTD (“the Company”) we are committed to conducting our business to protect the health and safety of its personnel, contractors, and general public.
To ensure this commitment is upheld a Fatigue Management System has been developed to ensure conformance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1984.
In support of this commitment Virtus and our staff will:
- Ensure each personnel and contractor is aware of this objective by way of induction;
- Provide personnel and contractors with specific training in managing fatigue;
- Provide training and awareness of areas of responsibility to ensure worker fatigue does not result in accident or incident;
- Provide drivers with information to promote management of their health and
- Identify and reduce the risk of fatigue related accident or incidents.
Virtus’ personnel and contractors will:
- Ensure they are in a fit state for work when presenting for duty;
- Acknowledge that safety and the prevention of injury or ill health is socially responsible and good business practice;
- Present themselves for duty not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or at any time whilst operating any equipment owned or operated by the Company;
- Participate in any random drug and alcohol test requested by management;
- Take responsibility for Fatigue Management;
- Advise their immediate supervisor as soon as possible if they are unable to report for duty on that day or should they have any issues in regards to Fatigue Management or fitness for work that may affect their ability to work safely.
